The Girl's Alright

Fell in love across a crowded room
So cliché, but what to do?
She sinks down into it - doesn’t fight.
Still she runs away.
Haunted by his eyes.

Now they’re talking,
Just by chance,
Shockd that he gives her
A second glance
He pays close attention to
The words she says.
She sees him smile,
Is it all in her head?

A few nights later,
On her own.
Missing something she can’t
Put a finger on.
Wants to call him up,
Doesn’t even know his name,
But she’s not phased,
It’s just more of the same.

But the girl’s alright.
Missing someone she doesn’t know.
It’s better than having them go.
Better than holding them close,
Then
Holding their memory,
Holding a ghost.

And the girl’s alright.
Saying goodbye
Because she never said hello.
